Good Saturday to you from our corner of Iowa where my writing voice has been silent for a couple weeks. There has been so much going on, none of it drastic, just more than a little overwhelming. It has silenced me and made porch sitting a necesary part of each day. for Joel,
Speaking of porch Sitting , that looks like it'll be possible for a while longer because our house that was sold is no longer sold and the house we were buying is no longer bought. These two sentences alone are giving us enough to ponder and come before God with petition and Thanksgiving. Let's just say that the demands the buyers had for us were long and a bit outrageous which makes us suspicious that they wanted to get out of the contract. On the other house across the street we discovered there would be a very large area that would need to be covered with polyurethane sheeting to keep the radon from coming through the crawl space. For the majority of people this is not a problem but for me it could be. Bottom line is I still react to some chemicals.... it would be a risk that we calculated we could not make, sadly. The information above all came together on a Friday morning. Double whammy. A lot to take in. We are disappointed but we know that God has a plan!
There was good news to share during the last couple of weeks. They had a thank you/farewell for Joel at St Peter's Lutheran in Rockwell, an appreciations brunch for the time he has spent there. It was a great time! I was able to go with him and meet a few more people.
This past Sunday we were at Faith Lutheran in Miller Iowa where Joel served as interim 10 years ago. That was delightful.
Unfortunately this past Tuesday I became sick and by late afternoon so was Joel. I ended up at the doctor because of a bad cough and wheezing jn my chest. Influenza B. So I've been resting a lot. Joel recovered quickly after 11 hours of slept.
That being said I am closing my Saturday scribbles and heading back to the sofa sharing things I'm grateful for. Grateful that God has walked with us through the house selling and then not selling. Grateful he's walked with us through buying a house and not buying the house. Grateful that he has made things available for us in ways that we don't understand. Grateful for the people of St Peter's Lutheran Church. Grateful for the people of Faith Lutheran. Grateful little things work together for good according to his will. Grateful that I'm feeling a little better from the influenza. Grateful today for rotisserie chicken when you don't feel like cooking. Grateful for the wisdom and insights from our children. Grateful for Sunshine and some warmer temperatures. Grateful for porch Sitting. Grateful for prayers, phone calls, texts, and emails. Grateful for all this and so much more!
Enjoy your weekend!
