Our Miniature Schnauzer, Levi, is not impressed. As soon as the rumbling thunder can be heard, his head raises up, and his eyes search out the room for my husband Joel. As the storm intensifies, you will find him snuggled in close to my husband' side. (My side is an option only if Joel is not home.) Where ever Joel goes, Levi is close behind. No matter what room he is in, Levi is there. He needs to be in Joel's presence in order to feel safe.
We can learn a lot from our dog Levi. When thunder and lightening shake our foundation in a stormy trial or challenge, this is just how we, as God's children are protected ~ by staying close to our heavenly Father. He is there for us in a storm and His presence is all we need in order to feel and be safe. There is a song I enjoy very much that expresses this. The music and lyrics are written by Lynn DeShazo and sung by Kim Hill.
In Your presence
That's where I belong
In Your presence
Oh Lord my God
In Your presence
That's where I am strong
Seeking Your face
Touching Your grace
In the cleft of the rock
In Your presence, oh God

Renee, I can't think of a better way to give an example of our relationship to the Lord than through the natural behavior of our beloved pets. It brings the truth of God's refuge out so clearly. What a wonderful way to worhip our Lord. I'm so glad I came by today, I have been blessed. Thank you, Dr. Bobbi
What a great analogy! What beautiful word to this song.
God Bless,
Ginger
I learn ALOT from God through nature and our pet's are part of nature!

Oh how I see this in our 2 pups and what a great analogy. I'm on my way over to youtube to see if I can find your song there. Beautiful lyrics.

so true...in His presence...safety....comfort...great analogy. Have a great weekend.
I can picture Levi with Joel so clearly. We have mama's mini doxie and she runs to the shelter of my husband when it thunders. Your post is a great analogy and I love the words to the song. Always a pleasure to visit with you Renee.
Oooh, Renee, I love those lyrics! What a comfort to know God's presence.
Oh I love this... it is such a timely post. Lots of places in the country get thunderstorms in the summer.I love your analogy and message to stay close to God.
Bless you.
Renee this is a wonderfu analogy. As Dr. Bobbi said, we can learn a lot by watching our pets.
Blessings,
Joan
Yes, I sound like the echo ... I'm sooo impressed with this analogy. What a "feel-good" visual you've provided!
Have a blessed day!
What a good way to illustrate the point. Thank you for sharing.

Yes, we can learn a lot by watching our pets! Excellent post!
Wonderful post Renee.
God bless. Regina
Wow, very good! This is the same thing I have been learning. (similar topic on my Spiritual Sunday post) If we are near our Father, we are safe and have everything we need. We often find ourselves seeking the things we need in life, when in reality, we should be seeking God who is everything we need! Thanks for sharing this great post!
Wow! This really touched my heart! My middle daughter is having a difficult time with her grandmother's illness.I will share this post with her tonight. Blessings to you for writing such a beautiful piece. Anne
