In Gratitude

I want to recognize and honor out vets today.  All those who willingly serve and have served their country, putting their lives on the line during times of war and peace.  Bless you and thank you.

My husband Joel is a veteran, having spent eight years in the Air Force.  When we graduated from Bible College, Uncle Sam knocked on our door with a draft notice.  Joel could have gotten a deferment by entering seminary, but he did not feel that was the right thing for him to do, so he went to the Air Force recruiter and enlisted for four years.  He chose the Air Force partly to avoid having to carry a gun on the front lines during the Vietnam war.  Just three months after we were married he headed off to basic training in Texas.

While in the Air Force we lived in Rantoul, Illinois, Albuquerque New Mexico, Salt Lake City Utah, Duluth MN and The Philippine Islands.  Eight years, first as an enlisted man, and then thanks to a education program he applied and was chosen for, several more years as an officer ~ a meteorologist forecasting weather for pilots.

We left the Air Force so Joel could go back to seminary to become a pastor.  It helped shape our lives and we have deep respect for those who serve.  God bless you Vets today!  Thank you all.  Thank you Joel.

Thank you, Joel.

And Renee, I have to thank you, too - for you made a sacrifice when he was serving our country.

We will never forget...

GOD BLESS.
