Let Us Love One Another

When our kids were growing up we used to listen to a tape of Bible verses that were put to music.  I am not so sure any of them remember those special tunes, but they have been firmly planted in my memory!  One of my favorites was put to country music..."Let us love one another.....let us love one another....let us love one another....For love is of God.....love is of God."

Lately, due to several reasons, I have felt myself in a desert place with little to write about.  Throughout this time of reflection and struggle, I have not lost sight of God's love for me.  His amazing, unconditional love for all His children.   I have been making the effort during my devotional time to visualize myself going into a garden that is filled with flowers, happy children and adults, and Jesus.  I see Him sitting on a bench and in my mind I walk over and sit at his feet, putting my head in his lap. I tell Him I love Him and He tells me He loves me.  I often ask Him to teach me something I have yet to learn.  Remembering how much God loves me is helping me to feel a deeper love for others and for myself.  For love is of God!

Monday is Valentine's Day and people focus on letting others know how much they love them.  It is a special day set aside for love, but with Jesus, His love for us is new and special every day.  Every day is Valentine's Day!  We are blessed.

Wonderful meaningful post! I think we all go through those desert places, but when we know we are not alone, that there is a purpose, then we can rest in Him.
Blessings to you!

God's love is really all we need, Renee. It reaches out to us in the deserts of our lives. I am lifting you up in prayer tonight. I hope your weekend is blessed, and your Valentine's Day full of love.

Renee, your wonderful description of sitting at HIS feet, is sure to be pleasing to HIM as you do so. HE has you totally resting in HIM and depending. This let's us readers know that your words written on the screen are from the Giver of Life, Jesus Christ Our Lord & Saviour. I pray you weekend is filled with worship & words from HIM.

I believe God uses those desert places to prepare us for the next step in our journey. I find that it is often in the deserts or valleys where I grow.

Have a blessed weekend and a Happy Valentine's day!

I love Valentines Day even though I am single. I send myself whatever it is that I want whether it be candy, flowers, or what not.

But I also love the day because it serves as a reminder to me of how blessed I am by the amount of love I have been given, I am able to give, and I am currently blessed with.

More importantly, it serves to remind me that I am here for just a moment as this because Jesus was there years ago for just a moment as that.

Without his sacrifice, I would not be a Christ follower. Without being a Christ follower, I would not be able to fulfill the call he has on my life nor would I have the answer that so many are looking for.

It is by our love that the world will know that we are His.

Thanks for this reminder, Renee.

Oh yeah...And Happy Valentines Day to you and Joel!

Yes, Renee, we are blessed indeed. I have certain images of "places" I go to be with Jesus too. He is so welcoming.

Hi Renee,

I believe those desert places allow us to seek God more intently. We often find ourselves, longing for His presence, sitting at His feet, with our head in His lap. It is there that we find true comfort. As you say, "For love is of God!"

We are blessed because of Jesus; every day, His love is new and special.

Sending you and family a Happy Valentine's Day.

Blessings and peace.

We ARE so blessed. Isn't it amazing that even in our waiting times that God is with us, loving us and waiting patiently for our hearts to catch up to our desires?

Your post reminded me of the songs our kids listened to on tape as we drove to be with family in Illinois! Then the words to this old song came to mind...
"I love to tell the story of unseen things above,
Of Jesus and His glory, of Jesus and His love.
I love to tell the story, because I know ’tis true;
It satisfies my longings as nothing else can do."
