Heaven Is

"Then I saw a new Heaven and a new earth......
Revelations 21:1a

I have been reading two books recently that have given me glimpses into Heaven.  "Heaven Is For Real" is a true story about a 3 yr old boy who nearly died from a ruptured appendix.  During this time he went to Heaven and describes it in vivid detail to his parents over the years.  The second book is called, "Flight To Heaven" and tells the true story of a man who was the sole survivor of a plane crash resulting in life threatening injuries.  Forty years later he tells the story of his trip to Heaven while on the operating table, and what he saw while there.  Both of these people~ a toddler and a man who was 19 at the time, were profoundly changed by their experiences.  Their concern for the salvation of others is always a priority for them.  The love they felt while in Heaven is seen in others by how they live every single day.

Most of us will experience a taste of Heaven before we leave this earth for good.  We can only imagine from what others say, and from what we read about in the Bible.  Still, to know that it is a wonderful place....filled with glory and grace, as a Sunday School song says.....this is knowledge that we can tuck away in our hearts.  And we don't have to wait to experience Heaven to manifest  the desire to bring others to Christ so that they may one day too, be amazed by what Heaven has to offer!

Some day we will all be filled with all the glory and grace Heaven has to offer.  Until that time comes, may God give us all a hunger to tell others about Christ.  May we be willing to open our hearts to those in need and share the good news!

"Heaven is a wonderful place
Filled with glory and grace
I'm gonna see my Savior's face
Heaven is a wonderful place....

.....I'm going there........."

Hi Renee,

Thank you for sharing these words that encourage and inspire. As hard as I try, I cannot imagine the words others use to describe an actual heavenly visitation. Still, it is a place I look forward to when God calls me home.

As you say, "...we don't have to wait to experience Heaven to manifest the desire to bring others to Christ so that they may one day too, be amazed by what Heaven has to offer!"

Blessings and peace.

I like your thought, Renee, that most of us will have a glimpse of heaven while still on earth. God is so good to us.

I want to see Heaven! I know it in my head and I feel it in my heart. But it's impossible to really imagine what it is I'm saying. I've read accounts of those who were given a foretaste and they have the hardest time trying to put what they experienced into words. That's because no eye has seen nor ear has heard! How can they describe to someone something they can't even IMAGINE? I can't imagine...
Still, I can't wait!!
Thank you for your reminder of what we wait for.

Blessings, Debbie

Your blog today brings to my mind the song "I Can Only Imagine." Seventeen years ago I lost 5 of my family members in a short period of time - three of them killed in front of me in an accident on the way to my dad's funeral visitation. Knowing they are waiting for me in heaven makes the thoughts of heaven even more desirable!

It's so wonderful to have heaven to look forward to. When you're young it seems like you'll be around on this earth forever, but before you know it, you're in your 70s and realize that these days are numbered.
Blessings,
Charlotte

When I read Flight to Heaven I related to parts of it because I had a similar experience in the military when I was near death.

Flight to Heaven was an amazing story. I think it was one of the first books I reviewed and I was realy impacted by the story. I was further impressed that he waited until God told him the time was right to share his story. I think, for me, that added to the credibility of his story.

I also read Revelation twice this past month (one of my reader's husband blessed me with a audio version of the NT)and was just blown away with it. It is amazing to read it in light of the era we now find ourselves living in. Awing actually.

Enjoy your reading!

Hi Renee, I'll be praying for you both as you seek to downsize. Our former house was on the market for one year. God sent the most wonderful young family to buy our home and we were able to find and buy this one within just 2 weeks! God bless you. Enjoy the weekend Renee.
